Sponsor a Teacher & NFTE University
Our teachers are critical catalysts for NFTE’s success in harnessing the talents of our students. Over the summer teachers take part in this four-day training as part of NFTE University at George Washington University’s School of Business (Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence). NFTE is seeking $50,000 for support of teacher retention and professional development. A donation of $3,000 sponsors one teacher through NFTE University, provides them with the NFTE curriculum to launch the program at their school, and funds monthly “Best Practices” meetings.
Greater Washington Regional Youth Business Plan Competitions
Twice a year, students from our region proudly present their business plans to a panel of judges comprised of DC area business leaders. These students, who have completed NFTE's "mini-MBA" program model, compete for seed capital investment prizes ranging from $250 to $1,500. Sponsorship opportunities are available at many levels, including: Lead Event Sponsor as well as First, Second and Third Place Prize Sponsors. $5,000 funds the Semi Final Competition and $20,000 funds the Regionwide Competition with all youth awards. Hosting facilities are also valued in-kind.
NYC Wholesale Investment Trip
NFTE Greater Washington takes youth to New York City Wholesale District, providing $50 in seed capital plus bus transportation, for an afternoon trip where they "buy low and sell high," and practice negotiation, cost-benefit analysis, and key stoning to invest in start-up merchandise for their businesses. Wholesale trips are semi-annual and can be sponsored for $2,000 a class or $100 per student.
NFTE BizTech Center
Our hub of all NFTE regional activities, the NFTE BizTech Center provides the use of computers, Internet, and additional office facilities to NFTE students to work on growing and sustaining their businesses. In addition, the center offers a location for monthly teacher meetings, regional planning, and best practice training. Sponsorships range from $12,000-$100,000 a year for three years.
Adopt-a-Class: Donation & Participation
Each participating NFTE school flourishes with personalized attention from successful business executives. An adopter's financial contribution provides students with a full set of curriculum and grant money to purchase inventory and provides the class with business plan competition award money and a teacher stipend. An adopter commits to four class visits a semester to speak to students and provide guidance and support, truly the most rewarding aspect of the program. Donations of $10,000 allow executives to adopt a class for one semester, training up to 30 youth. NOTE: Includes 4-5 class visits from Adopters.
Alumni Services
NFTE’s alumni services include regular seminars that facilitate building business and life/professional skills. NFTE matches alumni with professional mentors through a virtual business incubator program and helps those with registered businesses in growing their ventures. This includes a part time alumni services coordinator. NFTE is seeking $50,000 for support of alumni services.
